Holes to the Heart...

by Kaitlin Kristina   Jan 9, 2005

Lights flicker,
As lightning strikes,
Storm clouds gather,
Through dark, long nights,
Thunder crashes,
She is alone,
Clinging to his voice,
Trembling on the phone,
She’s waiting for something,
He doesn’t know what,
Perhaps she doesn’t either,
But its never enough,
He does all he can,
To keep her calm,
Make her feel loved,
Although he’s gone,
But he cant hold her,
And whisper how he feels,
That there is no one else,
Whom his heart conceals,
She just wont hear it,
No matter how he tries,
Nothing he can do,
To silence her cries,
But she cant trust him,
That one time did them in,
Drove a nail through her heart,
And their love grows dim,
He tries to pry,
That nail from her heart,
Remove the pain,
But she just says “don’t start,”
He can remove the nail,
But not the hole,
That mistrust pours out of,
Breaking her soul,
And each and every lie,
That he ever told,
Created a hole,
That has left her cold,
And every truth,
That he has to say,
Has no validity,
Even to this day,
That one time he cheated,
A lonely long night,
Away from her,
Will never be lost from her sight.
