Dare to dream

by Mild insomnia   Jan 14, 2005

Pale eyes glisten with sorrow,
And look to the floor,
Waiting for tomorrow,
To run it’s course,
And the tears are streaming,
As she lies awake,
Telling herself not to break.

She’d never seen the winter,
Not one like this,
Her heart freezes and splinters,
Warmed by no kiss,
Her lover’s dreaming,
Of another girl,
And it turns her world.

Her wrists are gleaming deepest red,
It’s seeping through the carpet,
The blood she’s bled.
A face, once flawless – stained with tears,
Alcohol, cigarettes,
Scream upon deaf ears.

Is nobody listening?
Is nobody home?
Something is just missing,
She feels so alone,
Do you knock on her door?
Have you heard her call?
Did you see her fall?

She finds her letters, and seals them shut,
Leaves them on the table,
And starts to cut.
When her parents find them, they’ll send them off,
That’s if they’re stable,
Could they hack the loss?

Dare to dream.

for the confused few, it’s about a girl who’s sick of it all, and dreams of a happy ending, the only end she can see is death and she writes the letters to close friends, wondering if anyone really cares.
