The Addiction

by Vanessa Lea   Jan 19, 2005

Nightmare from which she awakens,
Her body in a cold sweat,
Her possesions have all been taken,
To pay for the addiction she met.

The high is all that she knows,
A small token of appreciation,
It is a nightmare the places she goes,
A cold and unhappy vacation.

Offered a home if she can quit,
But, shelter isn't all that she needs,
Yearning for another hit,
To continue the life that she leads.

A memory of the family she had,
A childhood full of pain,
Her father was abusive when mad,
An escape is what she wanted to gain.

One too many cocktails of death,
Her coffin, a concrete pipe,
Nothing but a sad memory left,
The addiction has stolen her life.
