I'll Just Be "Me"

by ¤©h€€®ƒüll¥♥©¥ñ!c@l¤   Jan 21, 2005

Every time I turn around
Is another stare conveyed?
Another remark whispered?
Another laugh is made?

A lot of these whispers
Some I can hear
Saying, “She’s such a sl ut”
But that’s not how I appear

I consider myself the opposite
Covered up from head to toe
Layer upon layer upon layer
I don’t even hear a simple “Hello”.

Does all this really matter?
How I dress? How I act?
Does it matter if you like me for me?
Or if you think I’m whacked?

Call me what you want
My name is most preferred
I don’t need your labels
Like punk, Goth or nerd.

But for now, just “me” will do…

Great poem! It had a lot of meaning behind it and definitely flaunted independence, which needs to happen more often in poetry anyway (in my opinion). But good job & keep up the good work!
