Someone must hear the truth

I told myself to stop,
I said that I would quit.
But I thought just one more time,
And that will definitely be it.

I got a brand new knife,
To cut open my arm.
I sliced it across,
I did not mean to do so much harm.

The skin began to separate,
The tissue began to show.
I didn’t mean to cut so deep,
I just want you all to know.

The blood began to run,
Pouring to the floor.
I didn’t know what to do.
I just ran to unlock the door.

The blood was covering everything.
The cut became an inch wide,
I didn’t know what to do,
I just wanted to run and hide

I was taken to the hospital,
Where it continued to bleed.
Five hours I waited,
Just thinking about my deed.

The doctor came and looked at me,
Several stitches I received.
It took one more hour,
Before I could leave.

I told you it was an accident
I’m sorry that I lied.
But I could not get the words out,
But believe me, I did try.

I swore that I would stop this,
I swear that much is true.
But right now I can’t bear,
To tell anyone the truth.
