My Never Ending Nightmare

by ~*LorienElf*~   Jan 30, 2005

I lay upon the stony floor
My eyes staring wide open
They focus upon the closed wooden door
Waiting for the visitors to bring my swift end

I drift into a fitful sleep
Nightmares haunt my every thought
The shadows began to leap
But then suddenly up I shot

A deep voice says, "Take it, do the worst"
A knife appears for my use
And I pick it up at first
But then I realize the idea is quite obtuse

Something inside of me says go
Pick up that awful knife
But then I tell the voice no
I cannot without a struggle give up my life

The door begins to rumble
The deep voice gives out a howl
The ceiling starts to tumble
All the shadows are crushed with everything that's fowl

With every ounce of my strength
I start to crawl away
But then along the whole wall's length
A shadow came that made me cower where I lay

It rose up and spread itself out
The black stone bricks still falling around
Then it gave a painful shout
As a large rock hit him to the ground

The stones just kept on falling
As I inched closer to the exit
Boulders above me started to shift as I kept on crawling
But just before they hit......

I woke upon the cold stone floor
In my never ending nightmare
There was always so much more
I will always be climbing this terrible stair

I lay upon the stony floor........
