Sleep

Each day I awake
I feel the pain
I wish I could stop
The falling rain

As the red sun rises
My eyes open wide
The pain rejoins my heart
Turning me black inside

It gives me no rest
The pain is always here
Wrenching at my heart
And at my ending, near

Shivers along my spine
So cold in its icy grip
Frozen over with dark ice
My heart begins to shatter and rip

I can't take it one more day
The endless hours I'm awake
There's but one escape from the pain
My life I'm now willing to take

Now I don't want to wake up
I just want to peacefully sleep
Then I wouldn't have to feel the pain
I would never again have reason to weep
