Alone

* This was written by my sister, Lindsey*

Each night the sky darker than
before
Each star closer to warm me more
Each morning sound ringing in my ear

Then the winds cries of fear
Breaks through my door
Tears of rain fall harder
Until a puddle of sorrow has formed
Then it stops
Until another
Comes into my heart

No more stars shine out my window
No more sounds of morning come
Only hatred flows through my mind
Like water flowing down a stream
That has been stepped in and made muddy
The place where once laid a heart
Now lies empty
And my brain that was once filled with the joy of spring
Has now fallen into an endless pit of depression

Now I lay in a bed lined with silk
Forever
Because I did not see that light that was there
But covered myself in a blanket of darkness
That I can not uncover myself from
For I shall never see the light of day
And never hear a bird’s soft cry
But only look into the darkness that I see in this ground
And remember that I was once a person
Who walked on the land
Who felt the ground shift through my toes
As I feel the dampness come on
I know that what I did was wrong
