Sweet Memories (Companion to "I Keep Looking for You")

by AllHailTheHeartbreaker   Feb 7, 2005

~*This is a Companion Poem to "Her Brother's Ghost" and "I Keep Looking for You"*~

When I remember Jonathan
How he loved every snow to every summer breeze
I don't remember how he left that day
I only think of my sweet memories.

Like the year he lead the football team
As the star, they were 13-0
He quietly accepted his all-state award
But his life is over now... Why'd he have to go?

And the days we spent in the platform
That we'd built between two trees
Talking and laughing for hours
These are my sweet memories.

And on the day he turned sixteen
In the driveway was his best birthday present ever
He turned and winked at me
And we climbed into the truck together.

Another thing I'll never forget
Was our mother falling to her knees
When they told us you'd died
That ended my sweet memories.

Wow, powerful writing, I've read the previous two poems about your brother too. I am really sorry for what you are going through. These poems convey your emotions, they are just heart-wrenching, and they have broughten tears to my eyes. Keep up the great work!
