Gone with the Fading Sun

by Unseen Exposure   Feb 14, 2005

The sun paints itself across the sky in the morning
And some days I don't move
Standing beside my window, the East greats me
With rays that shine through
You humbly breathe, laying still beneath the sheets
You're never awake to share this moment with me

When the sun sets in the evening
I'm alone on the porch watching it regress
I imagine what it'd be like having you with me
Standing next to me- as thoughts progress

I guess some things just don't matter
A ring on a finger with a diamond in place
I signed up for forever, I said "I do"
But eternity slipped like the tears on my face
Simple things, little things are all you don't see
Like waking up in the morning without me

Tomorrow when the sun paints itself in the sky
I'll toss off the sheets once more
But tomorrow morning I'll pack all my things
Kiss you farewell, and head to the door
You'll humbly breathe, lay still in the sheets
I won't want you to share this moment with me

And when the sun sets as night falls
And I'm a million miles away
Will you stand outside with tears in your eyes
Watch as it declines and wish that I'd stayed?

But I guess some things just don't matter
A ring off my finger, and the diamond awry
I signed up for forever, I said "I do"
Now millions of miles away, I cry
Simple things, little things are all you don't see
Like waking up in the morning without me

Tomorrow when the sun paints itself in the air
I'll be gone [I'll be gone]
Before you ever knew I was there.

    is this another song?
i feel so bad reading other people's poetry, i feel as though i am looking into their darkest feelings. i hope that you haven't gone through such pain, but you put it ever so beautifully into words if you have, and if you haven't you capture the feelings that i know happen in that situation
