Fading Smiles

by ¤©h€€®ƒüll¥♥©¥ñ!c@l¤   Feb 22, 2005

Looking at the old photographs
Of when we were so little
The memories spread out on my desk
You were so happy then

As we grew up, your smiled faded
It grew weaker, almost fake
Colorless, black and white
And then you didn’t smile at all

Now, in the most recent photos
Not a smile was across your face
Frown after frown, Tear after tear
Where did all the life in you go?

For once, I want to see that smile
Again glide across your face
Then I realize, the girl is I,
I’m looking in a mirror

I liked what you were trying to do with this poem and i appreciate your efforts but i don't really like the poem. To me the subject just seems too cliche. Although you started off well (don't get me wrong i did like the beginning) but the ending was very weak. Good efforts, keep writing.
