Death before me

Today I exposed myself.
I emptied my heart
it poured out like blood.

I wrote of many things,
the new and old,
I was scared
could you hear the drum?

I saw myself
I was naked head to toe,
alone but ashamed.

The redness of my eyes,
salt on my cheeks,
the knife in my hand.

I saw it all,
and death stood before me.
