War is a stupid thing

War is a stupid thing
It comes and goes between us
It sits there in the power’s mind
Until it divides, conquers, consumes us

We hear about it everyday
All around the world
And every time we hear about it
Lots more blood is spilled

My family’s been involved in war
I know it’s not too great
But what’s done is done
For me its far too late

So I will hold my head up high
Knowing what you’ve done
That you were just the plane pilot
And never held a gun

You survived the war
And then you came back home
But then you got gravely ill
And now you’re all alone

Grandfather I miss you dear
I wish you didn’t die
I know that I am proud of you
About you I shall never lie

You were the father of my father
You taught him what he knows
So now I have your knowledge
Of the parts of life you show.
