Cupid's Pawn

by ---AL---   Apr 15, 2005

Treading and lingering through life’s long pace,
Not having luck or chance to embrace,
All those feelings that made me numb and scream
Doomed to be alone, for love is but a dream,
Or better yet, a harsh haunting echo,
Which chants this lingering thought of yes or no?
As the hands of time mark down the days,
As blood pours down my trembling knees,
Yet, the goddess of love hears not my praise,
Only pricked me with her arrow and left me be,
But Love lasts only in our timeless memory,
And your memory I cannot forget,
And for all those thoughts I do regret,
The wasted minutes of a bleeding heart,
As you forced the arrow to depart,
Shattering the hope of Cupid’s law,
But To think for once I thought you saw,
Through this fallacy that kept me hidden,
Yet, I was a mouse, and you the kitten,
And what feline can love a rodent?
Even if its heart screams love so potent.
Yet still, false hope kept me blinded,
And led my limber heart to being grinded,
And now I hold the crumbs in hand,
Forever fearing to be alone,
As I reminisce of hope I used to own.
