Even now and always still

by ---AL---   May 15, 2005

This one here was about my grand-pa who just recently past away from ulcer cancer.

Even Now and Always Still

Can you hear the old man’s laugh?
He sits aside his rocking chair,
As dancing chuckles make a path,
It almost seems he couldn’t care,
Of how and why it came to be,
That youth could choose to grow away,
And leave him here in destiny,
To face the withered way.

Can you see the old man’s smile?
He looks down a muted meadow,
As melting smiles make the while,
And turn to make a peaceful fellow,
That never knows the word of old,
Or why death drags on his finger tips,
And make him feel so bitter cold,
But forever still his stretched out lips.

Can you feel the old man’s love?
He tends his ear to nothing more,
As true adore waits above.
With fearless breathe of lifting lore,
Which always made his life a grand?
Even with the times of wrath,
He knows no more than “make a stand”
And keep a smile along the path.

Can you smell the nature’s breeze?
It’s calm and quick, and leaves no trail,
As the scented nature tries the trees,
For nature comes to tip the scale,
And lift this man with new found-wings,
And no longer still the old man’s laugh,
And no longer still, this smiling king,
Yet, love stays on his ended path.

Can you taste the nature’s woe?
It’s thick and dank with side of death,
And quick to be the striking foe,
For gone to none this fearless breathe,
But even now and always still,
Stretched across in constant style,
Placed upon in endless will,
Staggers still the old man’s smile.

I hope you are wanting honest comments because that's what I give. I know how hard it is to lose a loved one, I also lost my grandpa. You wrote this in such a unique creative way. When poems are written straight from the heart I feel that it captures the emotion of the writer and I like that. The fourth stanza is where I thought it was going to end. The next two stanzas were well written don't get me wrong. I think you did an amaing job. Sorry to hear about you loss! Take Care! Brooke~
