This Butterfly

You've caught a butterfly
And have kept it in a jar
Where it can barely be happy
For it can't go very far

But this butterfly yearns
To go and fly free
To venture what's out there
This butterfly wants to see

But locked up in a jar
How much can it do
You've taken away its privileges
But it has adventures it wants to go through

It's life has been captured
And this butterfly yearns so
To leave and fly through its life
it just wants to go

But in this container
It has no escape you see
And this butterfly wants
To just go and fly free

It's sort of what I'm going through with my parents. I feel like they've just locked me up and aren't letting me do much. I know it's because they care but soon they'll see I've become scared to even cross the street alone...and at this rate I won't be that surprised if it happens. And well the poem is just saying how if you capture a butterfly in a jar it can't escape and it feels a lot like that in this house...where I can't fly free....to face my own things...by myself.

    Awesome poem Christina! I can understand how you feel, but at the same time I can also see your parents' view. At least they care a lot about you and don't want you to get hurt. But I understand your view, too. But hey, maybe someday you'll thank them. I wuv you Christina! <3

    Beautifully written, but as you grow older you will thank them with all your heart, this shows they love you, but everyone needs a little freedom which I hope they give you. hugs, love, *Ann*

    nice poem! I know what your going through is very hard right now. At your age you will never understand why your parents are very protective. When i was your age my parents did the same and it sucks. Now that ive grown up i understood why they have to be that strict. It's also for your own good at this time, i guess! I just hope that time will come that they will let you spread your wings and fly if they know your ready to fly high!
