Stranger

by Char   Jun 16, 2005

I was walking down a distant path,
On a frigid October day,
The sounds of leaves snapping below me,
The ground as cold as clay,

Life around me was lonely and dark,
Even though it was not night,
It seemed as if nobody cared,
Nothing could possibly go right,

My life was flowing in no direction,
As if it were a frozen lake,
I had no confidence, no strength,
Waiting day after day for my spirit to wake,

Then suddenly I met a certain someone,
Who was a complete stranger indeed,
Who listened to my every word,
To my sorrows and my needs,

We sat there talking for hours upon hours,
Sharing secrets and long forgotten lies,
Talking about the life,
That I had once despised,

A single person can change your life,
Whether their impact is big or small,
The memories of them, you’ll remember,
Even when you think you won’t recall,

Tomorrow will be better,
That’s what they always say,
But I never seemed to believe that,
Until I met this someone today,

Now my life has turned around,
For just walking without a clue,
That someone would remind me just who I was,
And that someone was you.
