Escape From Reality

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Jun 27, 2005

Feet pounding on the asphalt.
Heart racing.
Sun blaring on my back.
Sweat dripping down my face.

My feet keep moving,
Accelerating as does my heart beat.
Faster and faster.
Anger slowly fades away.

Fragments of conversations.
Voices full of anger.
Now, as I continue my way,
All is in the distant past.

The voices slowly fade.
The memories temporarily erase.
My mind a complete blank.
Focusing on the road ahead.

As I continue to run,
I focus only but straight ahead.
As memories erase.
As anger fades away...

I like how you describe the strong the sensations that at the end I got a complete picture of a woman running, struggling not to fall, like in a dream. The whole poem is brilliantly created metaphors, also your words have much intensity. I can relate to the theme you wrote about, because I often wrote about such feelings and notions acting up in my mind.
Please, read my poem "Upside down" in my featured poems section, it's about the same theme. Thank you a lot.

    Lots of love
