Gossip

Through the ears of others pouring out of mouths
Whispers though a crowd, soon they will spill out
Sometimes kept a secret, but it’s always passed on
Doesn’t matter if it is the truth or if the facts are wrong

It always spreads like quick fire, passed like a disease
Murmurs in the rushes, mutters through the trees
Sometimes you hear a few words, not said to your face
“Everyone is talking about you, you’re such a disgrace”

It is always there behind you waiting to attack
Bullets aimed straight at you, knives stabbed in your back
Ever silently present, though no one says they know
None of them are honest but the signs always show

Rumors go unnoticed by most, but still they are there
Like poison in the water, or a bad smell in the air
Hurting those that they affect, sting and scorch their heart
It maybe something you made up that tears them apart

Mostly just some petty words, lies grow and spread
Like a cancer so incurable, can’t take back what’s been said
Gossip swells through the walls, leaking from their lips
Falling like acid as through from their mouths it drips
