Fade Away

by Soraya Lowe   Jul 20, 2005

I’m sitting here in the graveyard
I remember the day
When the smoke surrounded you
And took your breath away

I remember crying
Your face flashing through my mind
Wondering how God
Could be so unkind

I cry and cry
As I remember your face
I remember your eyes smiling at me
When you took me into your embrace

I’m sitting here in the graveyard
I remember the day
When the smoke surrounded you
And took your breath away…

Dedicated to Mattie Sue Barksdale
My deceased grandmother
May her soul find everlasting peace

This is a lovely sweet tribute to your grandmother. For me personally it seemed a little abrupt but it is still well and lovingly written.

Aww, i am so sorry, this is a terrible story, but a very good poem. I feel terribly that you lsot your grandmother, in what seems to me a house fire? But anyway, you did an amasing job writting this.
    Great work
