Life or Knife

by Allen   Aug 1, 2005

On the cold floor lays a knife
a lady who shadows it, rethinks her life
Her friends and her family
without her, they will not live happily

Suffering and pain gives her great depression
a man listens carefully as she makes her confession
Wounded and hurt is what she can feel
not knowing, someone is always there to help her heal

A great promise she has spoken
a promise that is not easily broken
Although she is still uncertain
of the things beyond her closed curtain

Afraid of the confrontation
she looks for help, she looks for devotion
The people who love her and really care
she needs to know, they will always be there

Thoughts about her unlived life
she begins to put away the knife
Her feelings begin to twist
now her thoughts turn from her wrist

Now she knows what to do
is to live life and remain true
The man lays happily in his sleep
he smiles and he does not weep

Now years that have past on later
she lives a life now much better
She lives the most flawless life
without pain, without strife
