You must do this

Sometimes I really have to laugh at me
I know I am putting off you see
A job I’ve found so hard to do
Out with the old and in with the new

The memories come thick and fast
Times together that I knew would last
But surprise surprise it was not to be
I’m all alone now there is just me

As I sift through stuff as I know I must
Can’t help but find other tasks important enough
To take me from what I must do
To continue life and make it through

A scribbled tattered note has me in tears
So little to remind of all those wonderful years
Yet in my crushed and grieving heart
I sort of know now we’ll never be apart

Get back to work this is not the way to get it done
When it’s all complete maybe then there will be some fun
Hard to believe that could be true
In a life where there’s only me not you
