There in the corner

There in the corner,
Sits a young child.
She used to be happy,
She used to be wild.

But time has gone by,
And now she’s so sad,
For mummy has said,
She’s been very bad.

She’s bruised all over,
With tears in her eyes.
It’s a living wonder,
Why she’s still alive.

Night after night she’s
Raped by her brother,
Day after days she’s
Beaten by mother.

She doesn’t know why
She can’t understand,
Yet she’s started to feel
This pain she can’t stand,

She told her teacher
Who chose not to care,
Instead carried on
Plaiting her hair.

She told her friend
Who just sat and laughed,
She told her instead
To stop being so daft.

A few days later
The girl got a knife,
So late one night
She ended her life

So there in the corner
The young girl lies
Surrounded by blood
She slowly died

    Wow, what a brilliant poem!!

    You don't need to apologise for the length at all, some poems are better longer. I think it must have been incredibly painful to write this as you're reaching out to your inner-child, its very important to do that though too. *huggles*

    Wow! This poem is just so...wow! It tells a tragic story that could make anyone realise how lucky they are to have what they have. It makes you realise that there are always people out there that have it worse. I really like this poem. Keep up the talent! 5/5!
