The Call Of Addiction: Its All In The Timing

by Ashes of a Black Rose aka Night Child   Aug 31, 2005

I trudge through life, through love and hate
And a Soft Nothingness whispers in my ear
“he is coming for you,” I hesitate
But there is nothing more to hear

My brain is racing behind my impassive eyes
Cold shivers creep slowly throughout my entire being
“Fine then,” I yell, “retrieve your prize!”
But he knows I’m afraid when he sees me fleeing

“He’ll be back, you can’t run forever.”
The Absence murmurs yet again into the air
But dear Nothing knows not of my endeavor
For he cannot get me if I am not there

Perished without hope that I would be wanted
With a blade pressed hard, I leave prepared
Far away from memories of which I am haunted
Receding slowly from life, leaving someone who cared

I gasp as I realize what I have to lose
Your face flies through my awakened mind
I’ve got but a second to once again choose
And I can’t leave the one I love behind.
