My eyes now open to the world all around
My fledgling soul crawls up off the ground
the day has finally dawned on my heart
the darkness ripped away as my coldness depart
driven away, back into the light
freedom's beauty is within my sight
My toil and sweat will not be in vain
soon I will be free from all my pain
My feet tremble and my arms shake
from anticipation that my mind will awake.
Shake off my doubts and all my weakness
flee in haste from sorrow and bleakness
but as I reach for my final destination
darkness also reaches in last desperation
its shadowy hands grab at me in rage
To lead me back down to my eternal cage
But against darkness the light did grow
Pushing back the depths with its divine glow
it drags and pulls hard but the light pulls more
soon both were equal, half and half to my core
stuck in a battle between dark and light
given light's mercy yet darkness's plight.
