Lost Bride

by Timothy S   Sep 30, 2005

Today was the day he was to be wed
He was going to have someone with him, to the end
But all these plans, his future, was shortened
She decided before that day, this was too much to take
But she hid it inside because his heart she didn't want to break
So she left the night before leaving a note that said
"I'm sorry you were mislead, if I broke your heart
But our relationship is in too bad of shape
If we did this, it would be a mistake"
He awoke that day with a smile on his face
Unknowing that his bride had left
He got dressed, his smile had an extra sparkle
He thought a beautiful marriage was about to start
But he went to her room and her bed was empty
Maybe she's downstairs, so he went down gently
Each step with care, not a sound was heard
Didn't want to awaken the guests of his wedding
No one was there, he started breathing heavy
Rushed back upstairs to find the note on the dresser
He read it and froze in his place, not a tear was dropped
Broke down inside but chose to stop the emotion
Thinking what led her to go, what could've made her stay
How did I not know, she led me astray
So he stood with his tux on, looked out the window
To this very day, he stands in the room alone
Waiting for his lost bride to come home
