Dearly Departed

by RainbowSlider   Oct 2, 2005

Dearly departed we are gathered here
to honor you as you honored us.
May gossamer wings lift you on high
so the angels may gather you near.
Fly free my beloved and run with the pack
until the day that I may have you back.
Stretch out your wings and soar on high
as you watch me from up above.
Know this my love was true
and I will never forget you.
Yes, it is true that you are gone
and I alone remain to remember you.
But we had our time together.
We cried, we laughed, we fought, we danced.
You gave me hope to love again and stood up for me.
You were my backbone and my life
but most of all you were my wife.
Why was you taken and I was spared?
Why did you leave me, I thought you cared?
I forgive you for leaving me
and honor your memory by setting you free.
