Moon Shadow

by RainbowSlider   Oct 2, 2005

Walking in the night
under a September sky
we notice a moon shadow
reflected off the clouds.
The moon shadow descends
to be with us
hiding itself from the day.
The moon shadow
lightly darkens
our Aura's glow.
The moon shadow
shakes hands with each cloud,
greeting each new neighbor
as it passes by.
The moon wears no ring
so we know it is single.
We stare at the moon
wanting so much just
to howl with glee.
The moon shadow touches us
and we feel free.
We bay and howl
with the moon.
We defend our moon
wondering how could
anyone could call her
a harsh mistress.
Full moon or no
her shadow is witness
and lights up our night.
She is there
even when the stars
hide from us
behind a mask of clouds.
