Passing Ships

by flawed diamond   Nov 10, 2005

We were on the same course
So we traveled together
That was how it begun
When we crossed paths the first time
We got along just fine
And as time went on
We literally became a straight line
We looked out for each other
Being each other's protection
Not ever realizing
We would eventually go in different directions
The waters were never rough
So I knew that couldn't be it
I always thought to myself
This would be an everlasting trip
It's hard to determine this
If the off course steer of the boat was intended
The route we traveled
It could not have been pretended
I can't help but wonder
Were we intended to be friends
Obviously it couldn't have been
Drifting apart should not be the way it end
Sometimes I have to question it
Is this how it's suppose to be
You give someon passage into your life
Finding out later, they never should have had a key
I've come to realize now
Passing ships was all we were
In my future it will be my past
A long ago aquaintence who did not last
