Red Bear

A forgotten red bear
lays tossed aside
it was once held by a girl
with bright brown eyes

she loved that bear
and held it tight
as she fell into
dreams at night

she was never alone
when she held him near
the monsters all fled
no need for fear

the little girl grew
childish things begin to fade
but ever her companion
the bear still stayed

when she was upset
a pillow he became
to hold all her tears
and help ease her pain

she found a new friend
and started to bleed
she'd hold the bear close
as she fed her need

the bear stayed with her
always by her side
he kept her secret
her friend he helped hide

that is the reason
she held him that night
as she grabbed her blade
and took her own life

in one hand was the blade
the other, the bear
the only two things
for which she did care

the bear is now red
when once it was white
because a little brown eyed girl
lost a precious fight
