Can You See Now?

by Emma   Jan 6, 2006

I can no longer hold this stainless image,
No one can see all this hidden damage.
You don't know the things I've been through,
You don't know about school, you don't even know what you do.

As I notice this mask starting to slowly peel,
I stick it back on so you don't see how I feel.
All you see is what you want to believe,
Weak people is your biggest pet peeve.

You'll never know I'm unhappy, you'll never realize,
All I've ever told you was a lie with teary eyes.
You'll ask me how I'm doing and I'll say "Great!"
You wont realize my tear-streaked face until it's too late.

One day you'll regret ignoring me,
One day you'll know, one day you'll see.
Bye, Mom, I tried to stay strong.
Guess you'll never know what was wrong all along.

I can completely relate. Only, I would write part of it to my mom and the other part to my "father". I loved it!
