Dear Mom...

by Ashley Van Eperen   Jan 6, 2006

Dear Mom,
I couldn't say good bye today,
because the words wouldn't come out.
No matter how hard i tried,
not to cry today,
the tears just wouldn't stop.
And even tho you said,
You'd see me very soon,
I couldn't help but think,
That i was losing you.

All the time we spent together,
While you were here,
Have been the happiest moments of my life,
and i hold them very dear.

I only had a few short weeks,
but they lasted all my life,
Christmas,
and New Years eve,
were two of the greatest nights.
I spent them with you,
Curled up on the couch,
Watching movies,
all night long,
while every light was out...
But now,
when i walk into the living room,
it seems an empty space,
I miss seeing you there
in the same chair every day.

I walk into the room,
the same room where we slept,
and i can still smell you there,
its like you never left...

A memory,
it plays,
of me standing there,
wishing your car would break down,
so you could stay here....
i think of how i watched you,
as you waved and blew a kiss...
I glared Through water eyes,
as you drove off into the night.
I stood there for a while,
not knowing what to do,
as your voice echoed in my ears,
"Baby girl, I love you."
