Why has this happened?

by Allison   Jan 26, 2006

My troubles are long gone
Now I'm standing here
In this desolate world
Alone and abandoned

All around me are the ruins
Of once grand buildings
Broken and shattered
Until they no longer exist

The harsh winds blow dust
Across the face of this vast land
Leaving the fields barren
Where food no longer grows

Most rivers have run dry
Leaving behind cracked earth
That screams in the night
For help

Tears slide silently down my cheeks
As I look at what this worlds become
Its no longer grand or beautiful
But dry and unforgiving

Why has this happened?
I say its because of our sins
All the wrongs that we've done
And all the beliefs we've held against others

I'm guessing the message is you were abused and someone messed up your "little world" ...just my guess though

The title was okay. It wasn't strong but it tied in really well with the poem. I think the message is about how we tear each other apart and are ruining the beauty this world once held. What I liked about it was that it did seem deep and full of emotion and imagery. A change from some I've read. I thought this line, because of how short it was, didn't seem to fit in: "For help" but otherwise, what a really wonderful poem.

I have a poem about how we're ruining nature called: Free and BEautiful No Longer. Check it out if your message is sort of the same.
