Wishing Well

by Tim Bradshaw   Jan 26, 2006

I wished upon a wishing well,
One day at the zoo.
I told the pond of what I thought,
and what I wished to do.

Everyone there thought it was a joke,
Just a kid with some pocket change.
But they had it all so very wrong,
My life I wanted to rearrange.

After we left my wishing well,
I was so down and so blue.
I told the pond of what I thought,
Why didn't it do what I wanted it to.

I can't believe I feel for the trick,
And lost all of my money.
Now I see the joke was on me,
But I still don't know why it's funny.

An eleven year old kid with a dream,
They act like they never knew.
I told the pond of what I thought,
Now it has made me blue.

Many years later and still to this day,
I remember what I said.
I told this pond I needed some help,
Because I wanted to be dead.

Well today I am back to this wishing well,
I am here to thank you for this.
I see now I shouldn't have asked,
I'm glad you didn't answer my wish

This poem isn't meant to be very good, but it was in my old poetry book and I decided to share it with you.
