Join Me In Death (In Memory of Arielle and Heather)

by HOLLY ARMER   Jan 29, 2006

Moments fleeting as
they grasp at hope
which slips through
falling to depths unknown

Finding themselves in
one another but still
unsure as to the future
and what it possesses

Dreams shared and
faith placed in
mended hearts
Time slows to a crawl

Standing at the
tracks as life
rushes in slow
motion all around

Capturing images
within their souls praying
to never part as they
hold hands with death

Folded into a loving
embrace mirroring
destiny as fate
rumbles in the distance

The ground quakes
as the wind whips
fiercely clinging to
each other all is lost

Invincibility creates
the need to be
closer to feel the
cool rush of power

Moving into the
path of destruction
Reality is restored
though they never let go...

*This was inspired by two teenage girls (Arielle Daniel and Heather Bates) that were hit by an Amtrak train in November of last year. Here's a link to the controversial article:

**I'd like to thank Apathetic Soul for coming up with a title for this piece.

I read the link... heartbreaking, how terribly sad! I purposely refrain from reading stories like that...it tears me up, I just keep thinking about it.... holly, you did an awesome job as always.
