As it Seems

by Bill Turner   Feb 4, 2006

Rain tapping on the glass
Reflecting the storm outside
Clap of thunder it will pass
Wind howling no need to hide

Flicker of the light
Banging of the shutter
House black as the night
Tripping over the clutter

Hand upon the rail
Sudden slam of a door
Protect her, cannot fail
Creaking of the floor

Sultry voice from above
Asking if it is all right
Replying with love
I will be back, goodnight

Kitchen knife missing from the block
Wet foot prints across the floor
Wish I had my Glock
Feeling what is in store

Lightning filling the room
Knife visible above my head
Sudden sense of doom
Somebody wants me dead

I grab the arm striking him in the face
Shin rake, foot trap, and shoulder to the chest
Spraying me with pepper mace
Giving me his dastardly best

Fighting for my life
Trying not to die
Must protect my wife
Cannot bear for her to cry

I hear the creak of the floor
Smashing him in the face
Sounds like there are more
How many in this place?

A flash of light
Explosion of sound
Caught in her sight
Chambering another round

Getting off a second shot
Striking him in the chest
He is bleeding, but not a lot
So wonderful, she is the best

Dragging the body out back
Shoving him in the hole
Giving his head a whack
She is my evil twin soul

Cleaning out the safe as we smile
Gathering the diamonds and jewels
Coming for you our task is to defile
We will be waiting silly fools
