Holding On

by *~Emma~*   Feb 7, 2006

I'm staring at these roses
That you brought on our first dates
It hurts so very much
Cause i can't stand being mates

i look at your photo again
Wishing you could see
Im holding onto the thought
That you'll come back to me

For every single memory
A tear falls for you
Now seeing you with her
Is tearing me in two

She was supposed to be my friend
My life with her i shared
How could she do this
I thought she really cared

But i made the mistake
Of ruining you and i
The feelings hit me hard
The day i said goodbye

I call you now and then
To see how you are
I ask general questions
You life, family, car?

I'm forever pretending
Thinking that you care
But how can i do this
When your never really there

I'm holding onto the thought
That you'll come back to me
Cause i can't except the fact
That we will never be

I actually wrote this poem some months ago, so it's not exactly new!

The "holding on", felt by so many. The first two lines drew me in ... " I'm staring at these roses that you brought on our first date". A smile crossed my face then as I thought of pressed roses I tucked away!
