Portrait

by The Fly   Feb 12, 2006

So many haunting details of a tragic life,
Just coming back to me over and over.
Can't retain focus for very long,
For the pain appears to be too great,
And will not recede into the night.

A cloud of depressing overwhelmingness,
Shadows over my cold strained body.
Silence is loud and piercing to the ears,
As tears run fluently down my cheeks,
And stain the ground in horrific sorrow.

A portrait of one lies deep behind,
The bars of a caged cubical within my mind.
Deeper in black and darkness all in all,
Preventing my touch, an invisible wall.

Further and further we disappear.
From the confines of one another.
Once absolute bliss, now terror like none other,
Soaked up by the darkness of hatred and fear,
To be gone from sight for all eternity.

Images constantly appearing from all sides,
Overwhelming the limits of my brain.
Each exactly the same in size and shape,
In color and texture, lit with a flame,
And melting together as one silhouette.

A portrait of one lies deep behind,
The bars of a caged cubical within my mind.
Deeper in black and darkness all in all,
Preventing my touch, an invisible wall.
