What's Up

by HOLLY ARMER   Feb 20, 2006

Surrounded by friends
singing our song
as we fight a losing
battle against time

Vowing to never lose
touch like many do
Another toast to
unbreakable bonds

Reality settles in
quickly making
time slip by at
a remarkable pace

As responsibility
steals the summer away
breaking the vows
so easily made

Relationship's and
new family's replace
the friends that
we love so much

With the passing of time
memories become desolate
until a familiar tune
comes on the radio

Within the first
strum of the guitar
Tears fill my eyes
as my heart aches

For my friends
that are now
scattered like petals
on the wind

I belt the song with
a smile on my face
as if surrounded
by my friends

Knowing that distance
may separate us but
within this one song
our friendship lives on....

"Twenty-five years and my life is still
trying to get up that great big hill
of hope for a destination"
