Driven

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Feb 22, 2006

Most poets are driven by a force within.
An emotion they can't describe lurks inside.
Overwhelmed, they try to write it away.
They attempt to describe that unnamed feeling.

Their pen becomes their salvation.
It becomes their voice, unheard for so long.
Their journal becomes their soul;
Revealing the truth the poet himself
Tries to avoid for months, sometimes years.

The silence that escapes their lips
Becomes the force that drives them.
Their poetry is their voice.
It is who they are.

But what happens when the force,
That emotion that has driven you for years,
Is no longer present?
What happens when the soul reason
You write finally fades?
