Eternal rest

by David Marshall   Feb 27, 2006

Close your eyes,
and please go to sleep.
Say your goodbyes,
To rest you shall leap.

Empty your mind,
and begin your slumber.
Go away now,
For sleep you hunger.

Crawl into a dream,
Fall into this trap.
It is now time,
For your eternal nap.

I bet you feel drowsy,
and really depressed.
Take the last pill,
and finally go to rest.

I felt there was a lack of purpose to this poem but also, poetry doesn't have to have a purpose, does it. it's about emotions and problems adn issues. so in that regard, i guess it's pretty great.

Some of the lines were a little shaky and didn't really fit but all in all, i'd say it was really quite good.
