Midlife

by Tim Fleckney   Mar 1, 2006

Splinters of reality
Slicing through
Delusions of grandeur

Kings become paupers
Gods become men

Childhood dreams fade
As grown-up nightmares
Invade your mind

Teenage brides become
Fat and depressed
While middle aged bankers

Contemplate lost hair
And fading erections

Mothers take pills
In search of
Chemical release

While fathers join gyms
And buy foreign sports cars

All over the world
Foolish simple-minded children
Pretend to be adults

    Tim,

There is so much truth in your write, sadly in most cases life will end up this way.

    Warmest regards,

    Steve
