Under The Starlit Sky

by Cuddles   Mar 3, 2006

I was sitting under the starlit sky,
trying not to think of you.
I knew it was a futile effort.
Thinking of you is all I do.

I imagined us sitting on the bench.
I could feel our fingers entwined.
I saw the moonlight play across your face.
I felt your heart reach out to mine.

My spirit lifted when we kissed
and flew to you on the wings of air.
Your taste was so sweet I wanted more,
so it hurt to acknowledge you weren't really there.

Coming back to reality cut like a knife,
for things aren't always what they seem.
Tears began to form in my eyes
because I knew that it was all a dream.
