For A Friend

by Ed or Ian Henderson   Mar 9, 2006

And you were there just days ago.
Full of the joy of living.
And it seems like only a day or so,
That you were here with us.
So we'll remember the parties,
And the drinking days and nights.
We'll remember the good times
Under these city lights.

And you were there just days ago,
Sharing a good laugh.
May it always seem that way,
Let this thought never pass.
Be with us at the local,
In every club and bar.
We'll be thinking of you,
A friend so now afar.

And you were there just days ago.
It's hard to know you've gone.
Cannot quite accept it;
You shouldn't be the one.
It shackled all our senses,
Like chaining up the soul;
Taking away a part of us all,
Leaving a gaping hole.

And you were here just days ago.
And you are with us now.
In every memory of you,
From a smile to a frown.
We will never forget you,
Though sorrow comes to an end,
You live on in our memories
O dear departed friend.

(Dedicated to the memory of Ian Leatherland)
