Insomniac

by Jacob Perry   Mar 12, 2006

Awake and asleep
but not really either
infomercials blare
never taking a breather

the nightmares while sleeping
the daymares awake
nothing compares
as the mind doth quake

days slither by
not really existing
weeks and months follow
reality twisting

Poe thought correct
when he spoke of time
memories now dreams
the things of times gone by

"my how time flys"
a wise man once said
but when never sleeping
you soon wish to be dead

but asleep and awake
i stumble through life
and i write to pass time
write to pass strife

as i look to the time
the clock glares at me now
unnatural as life
it leaves me wondering how

wondering how
everything ends
but when your an insomniac
it always depends...
