No Control

by Samantha Compton   Mar 19, 2006

All tears are drained
From my fearful face,
A horror I cannot
Bring myself to embrace
The global span
Of cruelty
Surely can't be
Reality?

But it is the truth
That all happens
In this worldly cycle
That never ends
Has strings attached,
A tiny hole
Invisible to the
Wandering soul.

No purpose found
Throughout the times
A life exempt
Of songs and rhymes
Where only you
Control your fate,
And yet to others
You are bait.

Unknowing you are
regrettably subjected
To images that leave you
Negatively affected
Society cares none
For your sanity
If only they can sneak past
Their concealed vanity.

Their values have all
Become depleted,
In effort to have yours
Deleted
Giving them up,
You are all easy targets,
They'll use you and sell you
In brainwashing markets.

The tragedy comes
When they don't let you see
What they never cease to do
To erase what you vowed to be.
You can't let them in
Or they will take hold,
And you will never regain
A trifle of control.

I cry for the souls
Who are already gone,
They cannot be saved
From this slavery bond.
Their minds have been taken
By things that they saw,
As they stood in their places
In unknowing awe.
