The Gift of Life

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Mar 21, 2006

Sitting in her rocking chair, she patiently waits.
Everyday, the elderly lady looks though the window;
Years pass as the visitor never seems to show.

Yet, she remains by the glass seperating her from reality.
Because, deep down, she knows he will come.
She has faith in what she knows not of.

The young woman she was now drowns in her sorrow;
The man she gave her heart to took it to his grave.
He faded one summer morning into his eternal sleep.

Sitting patiently at her window, she waits.
Years take their towl on her body,
As her anticipation only but grows.

Finally, as she peers out the window on a sunny morning,
The expected visitor finally makes his appearance.
A smile forms on her thin lips after so long.

As he enters her room, she stares him in the eye;
A whisper escapes his lips: "Follow me".
Without another word, she takes his hand.

Once at the doorstep, she stops and turns.
Looking at a woman's lifeless body, she smiles.
Delivered from her misery, greated by death's embrace.

Nearby, a woman lies in a hospital bed.
Gripping her husband's hand, she gasps for breath.
Screaming at the top of her lungs, the pain stabs her.

A final groan escapes her lips, as tears stain her cheeks.
Another scream echoes in the room,
The gift of life.

    I like this alot it kinda shows that while death may not always be a good thing it sometimes the best thing to end the suffering of one who has endured it on what seems to have been life long a peaceful passing that we all should hope for. all in all i love it ^^ great free form style by the way 5/5
