Lifesaver

I see her drowning
In a sea of emotions.
She cannot find her way.

She doesn't understand her past;
She doesn't recognize her future.
She cannot see past today.

I see her reaching out,
But soon pulling away.
She'd rather just disappear.

I want to help her.
I want her to confde in me,
But she cannot speak through her tears.

If there was one person I could impact,
It would be her in every way.
I want to give her hope.

I see the fear reflected in her eyes
Of never being able
To offer more than her shadow.

I'm standing here before her
Offering one more chance
For life to be different tomorrow.

I'm afraid that she will shut me out
And no longer trust in me.
I want to save her.

It's so hard to see someone drowning
And be unable to pull them out.
Sometimes loneliness has no cure.
