Today and Tomorrow

by Samantha Compton   Apr 4, 2006

An idle list
Of thoughts reflected,
The unspoken words
Remain undetected,
My life running evermore
Throughout my dreams,
A past I'm ashamed of,
A future that gleams.
What is today
But the blink of an eye,
A spark from a fire
No heat in reply.
Do what we can,
It seems we won't change.
Our lives become servants
Of something deranged.
A flicker of wickedness
Lies deep inside,
Pushing toward our insanity
Till our resistance has died.
Today won't respond
To our loud desperate cries.
We must look toward tomorrow,
Or face our demise.
