Being popular

by dee   Apr 30, 2006

I hate the way you look at me.
I hate the way I act.
I hate the fact that I'm popular.
And that its all an act

This doesn't come naturally,
It is all made up.
You think this is easy.
Being perfect, being popular

But I live day in, and day out,
With them riding on my shoulders.
Telling me how to act,
And who to be.

As well as my boyfriend,
I'm still only a senior.
Still a kid.
But soon I will be bringing a little kid of my own into this world.

I can't believe it got this far,
How badly it got out of hand.
I wasn't thinking for myself.
And now I will be thinking for two.

Why couldn't I just stand up for myself?
Be normal.
Be me.
Because being popular, isn't all it's cracked up to be.

this poem isnt about me. i wrote it for a friend that had to write a poem on some book and present it to the class.
